Louise Norrell has lived in Athens for years and maintains a studio there that she loves to work in. She works mostly in 18K gold or sterling silver and hand fabricates all her work starting with sheet metal and wire. She gives her jewelry a lot of texture with chasing tools or embossing dies that she makes and uses in a die-forming press. Her inspiration comes from a number of different things including the lush colors, fabrics and textures of the Caribbean and the fragmented appearance of old, falling down buildings. Also, for better or worse, she is always influenced by the comics. Growing up she read every comic strip, New Yorker cartoon and every issue of "Mad Magazine" when she should have been doing her homework.
