Thickened dye is hand applied directly to silk via brush. My painting approach results in a distinct visual interest, which includes brushstrokes and other markings that appear naturally during the dyeing process. My fabric's personality is casual yet elegant. After painting, the silk is put into an industrial steamer which sets the fiber reactive Procion dyes, bonding the color into the silk. All designing, painting and sewing is done without assistants. I have a true solo artist studio. This allows me to maintain high standards of quality workmanship.
