The style I am working and moving toward, whether in ceramics, sculpture or painting, reflects life in the sense that is interwoven with many facets, chaotic but systematic and elusive – still allowing a depth for escape and solitude. My dream: to leave a part of myself encompassed in my work, so that all the excitement and joy I experienced creating the piece will not be forgotten. Mia's pieces are individual works of art, hand-designed and crafted in a process that can take from several days to several weeks to complete. "After creating the form out of specially prepared clay slabs, I apply a thin coat of black glaze to the surface. I then carve my designs directly into the underlying clay body. Once the original etched drawing is complete, the piece undergoes a carefully executed firing process that produces the distinct finish that has become my signature."
