In my work, I place content as the highest priority. Narratives, personal experiences, memories, and reactions to events taking place around me are the starting point for my visual expression. Metaphor, symbolism, and word play are integral to the interpretation of my pieces. Making visual and conceptual connections between ideas and materials is fascinating and fun. I begin with sketches of possibilities and then work intuitively. I prefer to combine fiber materials (paper, fabric, reed, thread, waxed linen, vines, etc.) to provide more possibilities for creative synthesis.
