I have been working with clay for over 45 years.   During that time I have always been a functional potter creating a line of stoneware pottery featuring blue and cream glazes and flowing floral motifs. I really love these blue pots and I sell them at the Piedmont shop. My interest in ceramic sculpture developed after a year spent away from clay.  I was at first particularly fascinated with prehistoric goddess figures and spent 15 years working with those images.  More recently I have chosen particular themes for several  series of pieces: “Still Lives”, dancers, and bottle forms.  My true passion, however, is in the development of female forms.  I have been exploring various surface treatments, a variety of sizes, and structural challenges.
