I enjoy rescuing, revealing and preserving the inherently diverse natural beauty of fallen trees through creative woodturning with an emphasis on non-round geometric sculptural work, bark included natural edge, and burl forms.  My geometric turned work features flowing undulating lines, “sculptural art with some measure of functionality”, while my natural edge winged vases feature extensive high & low bark, elegant shaping.  With burl forms I strive to create timeless shapes maximizing the fullness and beauty of each unique burl.  And with the traditional round form I enjoy creating attractive bowls and boxes that play with light and shadow.

As my work was discovered within the woodturning community, I’ve been asked to provide demonstrations and teach classes.  Teaching others to become safely comfortable with what I call “big air” turning techniques is exhilarating and fun; it facilitates a more complete mastery of tool work, which naturally opens doors to a new realm of turning imagination.
