Through the use of oil, fiber, and wood I create works that have multiple layers and depth within one common frame. Thin strips of poplar and exotic hardwood are cut and placed within routed channels strategically placed in the other framework. They fit together like "puzzle" pieces and some are suspended in the center. Hand-mixed stains and oil paints are applied to the wood strips. In some of the work I may incorporate handwoven and hand-dyed fiber elements to give texture and interest. Influences from Asian art and culture, animals, birds and natural elements from earth can be found in the work.
