A Frit Glass Painting Demo with Betti Pettinati-Longinotti.
Betti Pettinati-Longinotti is a glass artist and educator based in Winston-Salem, NC known for works in drawing, painting, stained & fused glass, and works in a combination of these techniques. Her work can be seen in our summer theme exhibit “Are we There Yet?”, on view through July 30th.
What is ‘Frit’? Frit is ground glass that comes in a variety of gradients- from fine powders to coarse granules- which can be mixed with a medium and applied directly onto a glass surface. During this artist demo, Betti will show us how she paints on glass using frit to create, glittering, textured, painterly abstracts and landscapes, before fusing the work in a kiln.

She has had commissions & collaborations in all facets of Architectural glass: ecclesiastical, commercial, public art and residential installations. Betti is also a longtime educator who has led numerous stained glass apprenticeship workshops with student collaborations towards several site specific, public art, and architectural installations.
