Basketry lessons are in demand and we have several artists that have brought their basketry techniques to the WS/FC schools. Carla and Greg Filippelli from Asheville, NC have been long time educators for the guild and bring hand-dyed reed in the most amazing colors. This is a medium that is more difficult for art teachers to infuse into their programs on their own due to the high cost of materials and that’s where the guild is proud to step in to enhance their curriculum. Bryant Holsenbeck, environmental artist from Durham, NC has also taught basketry projects in many WS/FC schools focusing more on recycled materials.
