Matt Zettl

Morehead City, NC | Exhibiting Since 2010

The legacy of the Greene brothers and Frank Lloyd Wright are deeply embedded in Matt Zettl’s work. While some of his commissions are faithful and beautifully crafted renderings of the Arts and Crafts style, his original work beckons these influences to inform rather than dictate his designs. The happy result is a synthesis of tradition made new in original works of restrained expression.

With a small box or an elegant dining room table, Zettl reminds us that fine art is not the exclusive province of museums and elite collections. In the proper hands, art finds a comfortable place in our architecture and gardens and especially in those utilitarian objects which we see and touch and use every day in our homes. In this way, Zettl is both historian and steward, keeping the rich legacy of the arts and crafts tradition vital and strong for a new generation.
