Most all of my white silks and velvets are stretched on frames and layered free-hand using various size brushes with cold water fiber reactive dye incorporating various color combinations. Process includes 1 week air cure time, 3 hour steaming and final wash out. Other techniques include shibori, hot vats, binding, resist and discharge. Pattern designing, draping, cutting, piecing, and meticulous edge stitching are the final process.
Artwork applied varies from free-floating brass rings to meticulously stitched leaves which are hand manipulated to create flowers or hand tied to create vines. Most pieces are finished with glass beaded corners or scattered Austrian crystals.
