Harry Hearne has been a full time potter since 1990 working out of his own Turning Point Clay Studio. A fifth generation Floridian, born in St. Augustine, Harry received a masters degree emphasizing on Social Work and worked with refuge services in Washington DC before accepting an potter internship in Murfreesboro, TN. Since the beginning of his pottery career, Harry taught for five years at the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts and has conducted workshops at various colleges, universities, the John C. Campbell Folk School and at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. He also teaches Raku Kiln Building Workshops and has built Raku kilns for various schools and organizations. Harry’s work focuses primarily on Raku firing techniques using classical forms and multiple glaze layers incorporating stained glass.
