I hand build earthenware pottery utilizing the coil method. Each piece is carved and some pieces have clay applied to the vessel. I burnish each piece with a quartz stone. I allow the piece to dry for approximately one month at which time I low fire in a kiln to approximately 1400 degrees. I turn off the kiln and pull the pieces when the temperature drops to around 1000 degrees placing them either in sawdust or a combination of sawdust and horsehair to achieve the finished effect. I finish each piece with Tung Oil to deepen the color and protect them.
