Lou-Mitchell Courtney

Pensacola, FL | Inactive

Lou-Mitchell Courtney graduated from the highschool Visual Arts program at North Carolina School of the Arts. She then earned her BFA in design from UNC at Greensboro. With the classical background of study-landscape, still life and the human figure-she went on to work in a foundry where she cast her figurative pieces in bronze. A member of the ASFD, she freelanced in the NC furniture industry designing and carving over 250 original pieces (both abstract and naturalistic) over a 7 year period. Later she painted and applied complex and interesting finishes (including metal leaf and eggshell) to a series of gourds which were sold in fine craft galleries throughout the Southeast. For the past 5 years she has been sculpting exclusively in clay.
