I am inspired by nature-the stamens and stigmas of flowers as well as the seeds of the plants. The clean profiles of Scandinavian mid-century aesthetic is also the essence I want to capture in my work. The clay vessels and bowls are made of a high iron red bearing earthenware clay. Each piece is thrown on the wheel or hand built or a combination of the two. Glazes used are crater or matte glazes. Crater glazes are brushed on the piece while matte glazes are dipped then the pieces are fired to 1184 degrees Celsius in an electric kiln with a slow controlled cooling cycle. Often the pieces are fired multiple times. All pieces are designed to enhance home environments as well as exhibiting the beauty of flowers and floral arrangements.
